LOS ANGELES – Both Utah teams were back in action on the second day of the Trojan Diving Invitational, with the men's platform and women's 3m events taking place.
Luke McDivitt placed second on the platform with a score of 576.40. It was his first time competing in the event as a Ute.
Chase Hindmarsh, a walk-on, accumulated a score of 526.25, good for fourth place overall.
"The guys did really well," head diving coach RIchard Marschner said. "It was Chase's first tower meet ever and Luke's first one in three years, so they did a great job just to get a meet under their belts. It was a great tune up for Georgia Tech in a couple weeks."
In the women's 3m,
Emma Ruchala took eighth with a score of 541.25 with freshman
Lizzy DeCecco placing 14th (466.70).
"Emma had a really solid meet and was pretty even throughout, avoiding any big mistakes. A top eight finish at this meet is a great result and there is definitely room for improvement. Lizzy had a rough prelim, but she came back well for finals and moved up several spots. It was a great learning experience for her and she will continue to improve as she gets used to these larger invites."
Utah will conclude with day three of action tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m. PST.
