HAYWARD, Calif.– Senior
Hannah Allred and junior
Jade Mulvey made their 2019 outdoor season debuts opening up competition at the Mark Fanelli Track Classic Thursday night by competing in the 10,000-meter race.Â
Â
Allred bested her previous PR with a time of 37:21.80 on Thursday, bettering her old mark by a little more than 1:20 (38:44.97). Meanwhile, Mulvey finished the event with a time of 38:02.61, just a touch off her PR pace.
Â
"This was a terrific effort by both 10K athletes tonight," said Utah head coach
Kyle Kepler. "Hannah finished with a huge PR and this was a great test for Jade, who was injured in the fall and had a short indoor season. They led most of the early laps and set the pace for the field, which takes a ton of confidence in that race."
Â
Allred and Mulvey wrap up the first day of completion at the event on Thursday, which is hosted by San Francisco State University. The two athletes, along with other teammates will be back in action again on Friday.
