OGDEN, Utah – The Utah track & field team opened the weekend with the first portion of the Weber State/Utah Spring Classic, competing in action on day one at Stewart Stadium in Ogden. Utah will wrap up the two-day event hosting day two of competition on Saturday at McCarthey Family Track & Field Complex in Salt Lake City.

"The 1500-meter crew had a great day, despite the conditions," said Utah head coach
Kyle Kepler. "There will be several PR's after the altitude adjustment conversion. Kind of the same thing in the Javelin. Regan had a solid day. Our 400-meter runners had a great day, as well. It was great to see Lauren and Kayla do what they did."

Scarlet Dale and
Cara Woolnough finished first and second, respectively, in the 1500-meters. Dale crossed the finish line in a time of 4:34.89, while Woolnough notched a time of 4:37.05.
Trina Moreno took fifth overall with a time of 4:39.46 and
Bella Williams followed in sixth with a time of 4:40.06

Lauren O'Banion took second in the 400 with a time of 57.13, while Kayle Rees took fourth overall with a time of 58.38.

Regan Crofts finished fifth out of 18 competitors in the javelin throw, tossing a mark of 38.44m (126' 01").

"Overall, I thought we had a solid day and we are excited to get back home tomorrow to host the second portion of this meet," said Kepler. "Hopefully the weather holds up, because our kids are really excited to compete tomorrow. I think we are going to put on a really good show and hoping a lot of people come out to support the Utes."
