AZUSA, Calif. & TORRANCE, Calif. – The Utah track and field team wrapped up day three and opened up competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday with several new personal records and junior
Sarah Feeny setting a new school record. Â

"It was an excellent weekend here at Azusa Pacific University for the middle and distance runners and Feeny is really running at a high level right now," Utah head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "The gals took advantage of the great race conditions and even more important than the times, they really competed well and battled for every place."Â

For the third time between the indoor and outdoor seasons, junior
Sarah Feeny set another school record in the 1,500-meter invite race on Friday finishing in fifth-place with a personal-best time of 4:13.53. This tops previous record holder Amanda Mergaert's time by a tenth of a second and gives Feeny the new NCAA leading time in the event. Newton and freshman
Cara Woolnough set new personal-records placing 36th and 46th, respectively, finishing with times of 4:23.43 (Newton) and 4:25.12 (Woolnough). Rounding out the competitors for the Utes was freshman
Sophie Ryan and senior
Megan Killian. Ryan finished with a personal-best time of 4:28.73 while Killian also finished in a personal-best time of 4:31.38.Â

Sarah Newton and freshman
Brooke Manson led the Utes in the 800-meter race as they crossed the finish line with each other placing 12th and 13th-place, respectively. Newton finished with a new personal-best time of 2:06.36 while Manson also recorded a new personal-best time of 2:06.77. These times moves Newton into fifth and Manson into eighth-place all-time. Rounding out the competitors for Utah was junior
Nicole Griffiths and senior
Sadie Wassum. Griffiths just beat out her personal-record with a time of 2:10.89 while Wassum ran just off her PR pace finishing with a time of 2:11.79.Â

In the 1,500-meter open race, freshman
Kennedy Powell competed for the Utes finishing in 12th place with a new personal-best time of 4:34.80. This time just barely tops her previous record of 4:34.83. Griffiths finished in 27th in a time of 4:37.15 while Wassum paced in with a time of 4:41.82 to earn 68th. Â

Moving to the Mt. SAC Relays, Utah showed strong in the 800-meter race where Sophomore
Whitney Hessler recorded a new personal-bests and moved herself into 10th-place all-time. Hessler finished first for the Utes earning fourth-place in a time of 2:08.94. This time tops her previous record by one second. Crossing the line after Hessler was freshman
Brooklyn James who captured a seventh-place finish in a time of 2:11.23. This time beats her previous record by two seconds.Â

In the 400-meter dash, freshman
Lauren O'Banion and senior
Mesa Weidle competed for Utah. O'banion recorded a new personal-best time of 57.10 while finishing in 25th. Weidle finished in 30th with a time of 57.76.Â

Junior
Brooke Martin was the lone representative for Utah in the 400-meter hurdles. B. Martin finished the race in a time of 1:06.19, running just a few seconds off her PR pace.Â

Raynee Helm-Wheelock, sophomore
Jackie Martin and freshmen Maya Lebar and
Taylor Watson made up the Utah 'A' squad in the 4x100-meter relay. Utah 'A' finished in third-place with a time of 46.51.Â

In the 100-meter dash, Watson competed for the Utes as she finished with a time of 12.14 in heat one during the preliminaries. Senior
Eliza Hansen recorded a jumping height of 1.65-meters (5'5.0") in the women's high jump event on Friday. Hansen posted this height on her third attempt.Â

"We'll finish up with the sprints, jumps, and hurdlers at Long Beach State tomorrow in what should be another great meet with excellent conditions," coach Kepler said. Â
