Ute wins first medal for Tahiti in 5k
APIA, Samoa - Utah swimmer Rahiti de Vos won a gold medal for his native Tahiti in the 5k open water event at the 2019 Pacific Games
The 23-year old claimed six gold medals at the 2015 games in Port Moresby, however he was the silver medalist in open water swimming. This was Tahiti's first gold medal at this year's event.Â
De Vos, a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree, swam a NCAA provisional time of 15:04.13 in the 1650 free at this year's conference championship. It was the third-fastest time in Utah history and placed ninth overall at the championships. He also ranks second in Utah history for the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free
