With the holiday season approaching, the Utah Athletics Crimson Council staged a food drive and clothing donation competition among its sports programs. Their efforts culminated on Monday, Nov. 30 with donations of 168 pounds of food to the Utah Food Bank and a large number of clothing items to the Friends of MS.
"Just like this whole year of 2020, we hit some bumps with the food drive. But with the given circumstances it was as successful as it could have been," said Kenzie Koerber of women's volleyball. "We are grateful that we were able to get one full week of donations. The food drive was finally getting going right before we had to shut it down due to COVID-19. Even though it was cut short, it is super awesome that we were still able to get 168 pounds of food. We're looking forward to trying again in the spring!"
"The food drive was a fun experience to watch prosper. I loved seeing how all of us could come together and provide for the less fortunate," said Dru Gylten of the women's basketball team.
"It's been difficult to accomplish things together for our department due to COVID-19, so it was exciting to see everyone come together for the donations," commented gymnast Cristal Isa.
