COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah Women's Dive placed four swimmers in the top five of the 3m this evening at the Air Force Invitational.
Despite not having the winner in the event, the Utes saw
Emma Ruchala (2
nd),
Regan Caufield (3
rd),
Lexi Mills (4
th) and
Lizzy DeCecco (5
th) all among the top five. Mills made the biggest jump, moving up from seventh during the prelims as Ruchala's top score moved her into third all-time in Utah history.
"We had a phenomenal day, especially on the women's side," diving coach
Richard Marschner said. "Emma, Lizzy and Lexi all set personal best while Regan was just off of her best score. The women really established themselves as the best overall team in this meet."
With just the preliminary scores recorded,
Luke McDivitt was second in the 1m, followed immediately by
Tony Chen and then
Chase Hindmarsh in fifth. Chen would move up into that second-place spot during the finals with McDivitt taking fourth.
"The men had a solid day and it was great to see Chase hit a zone score on 1m for the first time," Marschner added. "We were a little off in finals but we had strong performances throughout the day."
The AFA Diving Invitational concludes tomorrow with both the men's and women's platform events.
