Three Named to National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas – Utah's Terrell Burgess, Jaylon Johnson and Andrew Strauch have been honored by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame as members of the 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which recognizes players who have maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or better throughout their college careers.

Burgess, who graduated with a kinesiology degree in December, earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors as a senior. He started all 14 games at strong safety and led the backfield with 81 tackles, which included 7.5 tackles for loss and a half sack. Burgess was second on the team with two fumble recoveries, which tied for fourth in the Pac-12. He had six passes defended with five pass breakups.

Johnson also earned his degree in December in business. He earned second-team All-America honors from Walter Camp and the Associated Press as a senior and was a two-time first-team All-Pac-12 cornerback during his three-year career at Utah. Last season Johnson ranked third in the Pac-12 and led Utah with 11 pass breakups. He was fourth in the league in passes defended (13) and passes defended per game (1.00).

Strauch kicked off in all 14 games this season. A graduate transfer from UCLA where he earned a degree in political science, Strauch was working towards a master's in real estate at Utah. He had 41 touchbacks in 85 kickoffs with a 60.4 average. Strauch also went 1-of-2 in field goals with a make of 41 yards against BYU in the first game of the season.

To be eligible for the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, players must have graduated and completed their final year of playing eligibility or declared their intent not to return to collegiate play, and be a starter or significant reserve.
