SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah ski team announces the addition of five skiers for the 2021 season. The Utes will add four alpine skiers in Keely Cashman of Strawberry, Calif., Bjørn Brudevoll and Wilhelm Normannseth, both of Oslo, Norway, and Michelle Kervén of Stockholm, Sweden. The Utes also add Nordic transfer Abby Jarzin, who joins
fall signees Novie McCabe and Sydney Palmer-Leger on the women's Nordic team.
"We have a diverse and talented crew of incoming athletes this fall," head alpine coach
JJ Johnson said. "We have some of the World's top athletes joining us from their respected national team programs."

Bjørn Brudevoll
Oslo, Norway
Johnson on Brudevoll: "Bjørn gained valuable experience with the Norwegian National Team while competing with the World's best on the World Cup tour. His drive and team-centric personality will be a great asset for the Utes."
- Member of the 2019-20 Norwegian National Team (C status), and on the national European Cup team for two seasons (2017-19).
- Made first World Cup start at Levi, Finland in 2017.
- Won the slalom at the 2016 Norwegian National Championships, finishing fifth in 2019 and sixth in 2018.
- Finished second in the slalom at the 2017 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.
- Two European Cup podiums, finishing second and third in slalom races in 2019 at Val Cenis, France.
- Placed 17th in the giant slalom at the 2018 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.
- Won the slalom at the 2018 Austrian National Championships.
Keely Cashman
Strawberry, Calif.
Johnson on Cashman: Keely is one of the top skiers in the United States. She is humble and has a drive for sport and life that is second to none. We look forward to her being a part of the Ute family and helping her to achieve her goals in ski racing and in life!"
- Been with the U.S. Ski Team for several years, starting with the National Training Group before moving to the Development team from 2016-19 and earned her way onto the 'B' team beginning with the 2019-20 season.
- 2020 NorAm overall winner with three wins and nine podium finishes during the season.
- Made World Cup debut in 2017 in Flachau, Austria.
- Won the 2019 U.S. National Championship in the giant slalom and placed sixth in the slalom.
- Finished third in alpine combined, fifth in the Super G and eighth in downhill at the 2020 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.
- Fourth in alpine combined, fifth in the Super G and 11th in downhill at the 2019 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.
- Finished fourth in the slalom at the 2019 Italian National Championships.
- Competed at the 2016 Youth Olympic Winter Games, finishing 10th in the Super G.
- Has won three U.S. Junior National Championships, sweeping the slalom and Super G in 2019 and winning the 2017 giant slalom title.
- Competed in the 2014 Longines Future Ski Champions event.
Abigail Jarzin
Green Bay, Wis.
Havlick on Jarzin: "Abby has demonstrated her ability to balance skiing and school and perform at the top tier of collegiate skiing. After taking a year off this previous season, her motivation, fresh energy and perspective will be invaluable to all of her fellow Utes!"
- Competed at Northern Michigan in 2019, earning All-America honors with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships and earning Central Collegiate Skiing Association Skier of the Year honors.
- Won the 5-km freestyle at the 2019 Central Region Championship and the 15-km classic at the CCSA Championship.
- Second among college skiers and third overall in the 5-km freestyle SuperTour at Theodore Wirth Park (Minn.) in Feb. 2019.
- Won five Wisconsin high school state championships, winning three skate titles (2015-17) and two classic championships (2016-17).
Michelle Kervén
Stockholm, Sweden
Johnson on Kervén: "Michelle joins us from the Swedish National Team where she competed and trained last season. She brings to us a hunger to go faster and do whatever she can to continue to develop as a skier and a person."
- Three-year member of the Swedish National Team, competing with Training Group 2 in 2019-20.
- Several strong finishes at the Swedish National Championships, placing eighth in the giant slalom in 2018, fourth in alpine combined in 2017 and most recently 14th in the giant slalom at 2019.
- Won the slalom at the 2019 and 2015 Swedish Junior National Championships and placed second in the event in 2016 with her best giant slalom finish fourth in 2018.
- Placed fourth in the giant slalom at the 2018 Finnish National Championships.
- Competed in the slalom at the 2018 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.
Wilhelm Normannseth
Oslo, Norway
Johnson on Normannseth: "Wilhelm is one of the top juniors in the Norwegian system. He brings incredible speed and a personality that any team would be lucky to have."
- Finished seventh in the slalom at the 2019 Norwegian National Championships.
- Finished 21st in the giant slalom at the 2019 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.
- Placed third in the slalom at the 2019 Austrian Junior National Championships.
- Best European Cup finish 20
th in the slalom at Vaujany, France, in 2020.
- Won U16 super G at 2016 Whistler Cup.
- Won U14 slalom at 2014 Pokal Loka.
