NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – University of Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd has been named one of four finalists for the 2021 Lott IMPACT Trophy, announced today by the Pacific Cub IMPACT Foundation.
The Lott IMPACT Trophy is named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, recognizing student-athletes for their on and off the field contributions. Lloyd and the other three finalists will travel to Newport Beach, Calif. on Dec. 12 for the award show, hosted by Joel Klatt of FOX Sports.
Lloyd leads a Utah defense that ranks 12th in the FBS in total defense (315.4) with the Utes also sitting at No. 11 nationally in team sacks and tackles for loss. Through 13 games, the Pac-12 Championship game MVP has 106 total tackles (22.0 TFL, 8.0 sacks) along with four interceptions and six pass breakups.
He currently ranks second in the FBS and first in the Pac-12 in tackles for loss (22.0), also ranking in the top five in the league in sacks (8.0) and total tackles (106). Lloyd is also tied for the lead among linebackers nationally in total interceptions (4) and is one of just two linebackers in the country that have scored multiple pick-sixes this year.
Lloyd has had seven or more tackles in 10 of the Utes' 13 games this season, including starting the season with three straight games in double-digits. He tied his career high in tackles twice with 13 against both BYU and San Diego State.
He has had at least one tackle for loss in 18 of the last 21 games he has appeared on, including in 10 this season. He also had five multi-tackle for loss games, highlighted by his career high 5.0 against Stanford on Nov. 5, the most by a Pac-12 player this season and fourth-most in the FBS.
Lloyd and the Utes will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 when they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl. The game will kick off at 2 p.m. PT/3 p.m. MT and will air on ESPN.
