Women's Tennis Clinches 4-2 Win Over Weber State

Salt Lake City – The Utes hosted the Weber State Wildcats for a match this Saturday afternoon at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center where the Utes remained undefeated on the season, moving to 3-0 overall. Although dropping the doubles point, Utah recovered during singles play for a final score of 4-2 to close out the weekend.
The match started off with lively doubles play, during which the Utes would fall to Weber State. On court two, Anya Lamoreaux and Lindsay Hung fell to WSU 6-3 and shortly after, WSU took the doubles point when Utes Jasmine Rich and Anastasia Goncharova fell 6-2 on court three. Madeline Lamoreaux and Emily Dush were on the opponents' feet, 4-5 on court one, but did not finish their match.
After losing the doubles point, the Utes showed a stellar recovery during singles play. On court four, Dush downed her opposition in a quick match and gave the Utes their first point with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Following her teammate's lead, Hung also took the upper hand over WSU's Megan Lombardi on court two 6-4, 6-2. On court six, Rich fell to WSU's Ferreira 6-1, 6-2 and sent the match into a tie at 2-2.
Utah's third point came on court three, where Goncharova defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-2 to put the Utes at match point. The game point was played out on court five, where Anya Lamoreaux downed her opponent after a tight first set 7-6 (7-3) and won 6-0 in the second to clinch the win.Â
