SALT LAKE CITY – Utah skiing swept the Skier of the Meet awards after a good weekend of racing at the CU Invitational, the RMISA announced on Sunday, February 7.
Julia Richter and
Bjørn Riksaasen each were named the Skier of the Meet giving Utah their fourth week during the season of having at least one Skier of the Meet after races.
Riksaasen was the runner up in both races in Aspen, with the first in the freestyle and then the 10K classic race on Saturday. They were the highest finishes of his career.
Richter won both races over the weekend giving her the fourth and fifth wins of her career.
This is Riksaasen's first Skier of the Meet award and Richter's second time winning the award.
The other Utes to win a weekly award this year are
Gustav Vøllo,
Madison Hoffman,
Samuel Hendry and
Novie McCabe.
RMISA skiers can only win the award once per season and the winner is calculated on the accumulation of NCAA qualification points earned over the two races that constitute a meet.
Alpine action continues Monday and Tuesday with the RMISA Invitational at Westminster with two slalom races for each gender taking place at Snowbird.
