SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Nordic ski team is welcoming four newcomers to its roster for next season, head Nordic coach
Miles Havlick announced.
Karianne Dengerud, from Oslo, Norway, will make her way to Salt Lake City. Dengerud is a four-time Norwegian National Junior champion winning twice in 2018 and 2017. She is also eighth in Norwegian Cup Freestyle Sprint in Førde, Norway (2021).
The Utes have one other international signing with Johan Herbert. From Stockholm, Sweden, he finished first in the Volkswagen Cup 15km freestyle in Östersund, Sweden this year. In Finland, he took third in U23 World Championships 4x5km relay and sixth in the U23 World Championships 15km freestyle.
The other two signees are from the United States as Walker Hall will come to Utah from Winthrop, Washington and Brian Bushey will join the team from Montpelier, Vermont.
Hall has had a decorated prep career becoming the US National Junior sprint champion in 2020 as well as being a two-time Western Junior National Champion in 2021.
Bushey placed 13
th at the Youth Olympics in the 10k Classic in Lausanne, Switzerland and 10
th in the Scandinavian Cup Freestyle Spring in Falun Sweden.
These four will be joining a team that was won back-to-back national championships in 2019 and 2021.
