During this edition of Utes Insider, former football teammates Eddie Johnson, the school rushing leader for over 30 years, and wide receiver Greg Holder join host
Mike Lageschulte to reminisce about their playing days and give us some insight into their current endeavors.
Johnson was a two-time honorable mention All-American and a two-time First Team All-WAC selection during his playing career from 1984-88. He left as Utah's all-time rushing leader with 3,219 yards, a mark that stood 31 years until 2019. He currently ranks fourth with 564 carries and lays claim to two of the eighteen 1,000-yard rushing seasons in school history. Johnson also had a dozen 100-yard rushing games to rank tied for fourth all-time at the U.
Through his company, Golden Rule Mentors, Johnson has mentored small business owners, professional and amateur athletes, educators and students. His company has helped raise money to build housing for the homeless and put a focus on tackling mental illness. Because of his humanitarian service, Johnson has been selected to be a World Peace Ambassador, sanctioned by the United Nations and "I Change Nations" organization. He has also worked as a backup singer and recording artist.
Holder played for the Utes from 1985-86 after transferring from El Camino Junior College and was one of the team's top four receivers as a senior. Following a couple of years in the NFL with the Raiders, Holder entered the healthcare profession. He also became a sketch artist on the side, eventually moved into the clothing industry and then transitioned into glass art. Since then has built a highly-successful business creating glass work of athletes, celebrities and prominent landmarks.
