Utah had a four-game winning streak snapped with Saturday's loss at Oregon.
It is Utah's first loss to the Ducks since Dec. 6, 2019 and first regular season setback to Oregon since Oct. 28, 2017.
Utah had won the previous two meetings with Oregon. Neither team has won three straight meetings since Oregon took the 2009, '13 and '14 contests with Utah.
Utah eliminated a double-digit deficit for the the first time since Oct. 15 vs. USC (trailed in that game 28-14).
All-time, Utah is 12-24 against Oregon, including a 5-13 record when playing in Eugene.
Since joining the Pac-12 Conference in 2011, Utah is 59-44 in regular season league games and 25-25 in road conference games.
Kyle Whittingham is 152-73 in his 18 seasons at the helm of the Utes, plus the 2005 Fiesta Bowl. Including Whittingham's time as an assistant coach (1994-2004), he has been on the sidelines for 351 games.
Utah is 23-15 in games when ranked in the CFP poll since the CFP's inception in 2014.
Utah won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. The Utes defended the East goal to begin the game.
 Offense
Quarterback Cameron Rising made his 22nd start as a Ute, passing 21-of-38 for 170 yards (long 18). Rising also kept the ball seven times for 43 yards with a long rush of 13 yards. He had three interceptions.
Rising had a stretch during the first quarter of five straight completions. It totaled 42 of Rising's 62 passing yards for the quarter, including completions of 16 yards (to Dalton Kincaid) and 13 yards (to Jaylen Dixon).
Running back Tavion Thomas had 19 carries for 55 yards. It is the second straight game that Thomas has recorded double-digit carries and seventh this season.
Tight end Dalton Kincaid had 11 receptions for 99 yards; it was Kincaid's second career 10-reception game (16 vs. USC).
Wide receiver Jaylen Dixon scored a touchdown on an 18-yard end-around during the third quarter. It is Dixon's fourth rushing touchdown of the season, sixth of his career and first since Nov. 5 vs. Arizona (seven yards).
Dixon's four rushing touchdowns this season are the most by a Utah wide receiver since 2004 (Steve Savoy had six on that undefeated Fiesta Bowl team).
That 13-play, 86-yard drive ending with Dixon's touchdown is the eighth scoring drive for Utah this season that spanned 80-plus yards.
An incompletion with 2:29 remaining in the second quarter ended a streak of six straight successful fourth-down conversions for Utah (1-for-1 vs. Arizona; 4-for-4 vs. Stanford; one previous conversion at Oregon).
 Defense
Utah has earned a defensive takeaway in nine of 11 games this season. The Utes had one interception and two fumble recoveries in the game.
Cornerback Clark Phillips III registered his sixth interception of the season and ninth of his career. He is the first Ute to record six interceptions in a season since Robert Johnson in 2009. It ties Phillips for sixth-most in a season in program history.
Phillips also broke up two passes, his second such game this season (two PBU vs. USC on Oct. 15).
Fellow cornerback Zemaiah Vaughn forced his first career fumble during the second quarter. Safety Cole Bishop was in on the recovery—it went as Bishop's second career recovery and first since the Rose Bowl Game vs. Ohio State on Jan. 1, 2022.
Linebacker Karene Reid returned a fumble 11 yards for a touchdown on Oregon's first play of the third quarter. It is Reid's first career fumble recovery, and the first scoop and score by a Ute since Nov. 21, 2020 vs. USC (Nephi Sewell, 23 yards).
Defensive tackle Simote Pepa recorded a sack in the third quarter; it is Pepa's second straight game with a sack after he recorded the first 2.0 sacks of his career on Nov. 12 vs. Stanford.
Defensive end Gabe Reid's team-leading eight tackles (1.5 TFL) were a season-best for Reid, surpassing his previous season-high of seven vs. San Diego State on Sept. 17.
Oregon's game-opening-drive touchdown marked just the second time this season (vs. USC) that Utah allowed points on its opponent's first drive of the game.
 Special Teams
Jadon Redding's 45-yard field goal late in the first quarter was the longest by a Ute this season and longest since Redding made a 50-yarder against Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship on Dec. 3, 2021 as the first half expired.
