BEAVER CREEK, Colo. – Members of the Utah Ski Team concluded a busy week of alpine races in Colorado as select Utes competed in slalom on Wednesday and Thursday at Beaver Creek, as part of the Nor-Am Cup.
In Thursday's action,
Oliver Parazette won silver on the junior podium and was sixth overall, coming off another junior podium appearance (bronze) earlier this week in giant slalom.
This week's races and Nor-Am Cup schedule are among an additional layer of competition for select Utes, complementing the team's traditional RMISA schedule which begins in January. A full rundown of that
additional schedule, both alpine and Nordic, is available here. The Nor-Am races pit athletes against some of the best in the world and are generally regarded at a tier of competition second to only the World Cup.
Parazette was sixth overall on Thursday, eight-hundredths of a second behind fifth-place finisher
Wilhelm Normannseth. Three more Utes placed in the top-20 in
Gustav Vøllo (14
th),
Jeremy Mathers (17
th) and
Raphael Lessard (20
th).
It was a carbon copy for Normannseth of his Wednesday result, which also saw Normannseth tab fifth.
Tomas Birkner took 10
th, Parazette 13
th and Vøllo claimed the 14
th spot.
