LYGNA, Norway - Six current members of the Utah ski team are headed to Lygna, Norway to compete in cross-country races at the FIS World Junior/U23 Championships from Feb. 22-27. The group includes
Brian Bushey,
Walker Hall and
Sydney Palmer-Leger in World Junior Championships action, along with
Abby Jarzin,
Samuel Hendry and
Noel Keeffe in U23 racing.

Brian Bushey – WJC – Fr. – Montpelier, Vermont
- Eight collegiate starts with Utah in 2022.
- No. 44 in the U.S. SuperTour rankings.
- Made his Ute debut with an eighth-place finish in freestyle sprints at the Utah Invitational, which took place within U.S. Nationals (Jan. 2022).
- Also earned bronze medal in the junior men's 10km freestyle mass start at Soldier Hollow at U.S. Nationals (Jan. 2022).
- Placed seventh in the SuperTour 15km classical interval start at Cable, Wisconsin (Dec. 2021).
Walker Hall – WJC – Fr. – Winthrop, Washington
- Six collegiate starts with Utah, all in 2022.
- No. 29 in U.S. SuperTour rankings.
- Two top-five college finishes, including a silver medal in the 10km freestyle at the Montana State Invitational (Jan. 2022).
- Clocked an eighth-place finish in the SuperTour freestyle sprints at Duluth, Minnesota (Dec. 2021)
Samuel Hendry – U23 – Jr. – Canmore, Alberta
- Twenty collegiate starts with 15 podiums and four wins (two CL, two FS)
- No. 31 in SuperTour rankings.
- Three-time All-America First Team honoree and twice named All-RMISA First Team.
- Hit the podium in both the 10km freestyle and 15km classical at the Montana State Invitational (Jan. 2022).
- Logged a top-10 effort in the SuperTour 15km freestyle mass start at Cable, Wisconsin (Dec. 2021).
Abby Jarzin – U23 – Jr. – Green Bay, Wisconsin
- Seventeen college races as a Ute, with five top-five performances.
- Ranks No. 17 in U.S. SuperTour rankings.
- Hit her first college podium with a bronze showing in the Utah Invitational freestyle sprints (Jan. 2022), within the U.S. National Championships.
- Named Skier of the Meet for the RMISA Invitational after a fourth-place finish in the 5k freestyle interval start in Fairbanks, Alaska (Feb. 2022).
- Two SuperTour top-fives in 2021-22, including in 5km freestyle interval start at Duluth and a fourth-place finish in 15km freestyle mass start at Cable.
Noel Keeffe – U23 – Sr. – Steamboat Springs, Colorado
- Owns 27 starts as a Ute (2019-present) with three career podiums (two FS, one CL).
- Two of those podiums came in Jan. 2022 at Soldier Hollow in freestyle and classic sprints.
- No. 15 in U.S. SuperTour rankings.
- Four top-10 finishes on SuperTour during 2021-22, including at Duluth in freestyle sprints (Dec. 2021).
- Keeffe's aforementioned college podium in freestyle sprints took place within U.S. Nationals and he placed third in the SuperTour race as well.
Sydney Palmer-Leger – WJC – So. – Park City, Utah
- 2021 National Nordic Skier of the Year and two-time All-America First Team.
- Won individual NCAA championships in 5km classical and 15km freestyle during 2021.
- Six wins in eight college races during the 2022 season, including in three straight starts.
- No. 12-ranked skier in U.S. SuperTour points.
- Six starts on SuperTour in 2021-22, all top-seven finishes.
