SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah ski team and director of skiing
Fredrik Landstedt on Tuesday finalized the program's lineup of competitors for the 2022 NCAA Championships, which includes a full qualifying group of 12 Utes. The NCAA Championships will take place at Park City Mountain Resort (alpine) and Soldier Hollow (Nordic) from March 9-12.
The qualifying Utes on the alpine side include
Sona Moravcikova,
Kaja Norbye and
Katie Parker on the women's side, with
Joachim Lien,
Wilhelm Normannseth and
Gustav Vøllo in men's alpine competition. Nordic races will include
Sophia Laukli,
Novie McCabe and
Sydney Palmer-Leger on the women's side.
Samuel Hendry,
Luke Jager and
Bjørn Riksaasen round out the Nordic men's lineup.
The Utes are one of five programs in the country to qualify the maximum 12 athletes. Other teams at that total include Denver and Colorado out of the RMISA, plus Dartmouth and Vermont.
Utah, which won the 2022 RMISA Championships last week in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is in chase of its 15
th national title in program history. The Utes most recently have brought home the 2019 and '21 NCAA crowns, and were leading the 2020 championship meet at the time it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

- Making her fourth NCAA Championships appearance (2020, '21 at Utah; 2019 at New Mexico)
- Placed 20th in slalom at the 2021 NCAA Championships
- 2022 All-RMISA Women's Alpine Honorable Mention
- Alpine Skier of the Meet for the 2022 Denver Invitational

Kaja Norbye – Alpine – Fr. – Oslo, Norway

- Four podiums during her collegiate freshman season in 2022 (all in giant slalom)
- Top GS performance to date was a second-place effort at the RMISA Invitational
- Added a seventh-place slalom finish at the Montana State Invitational
Katie Parker – Alpine – Sr. – Melbourne, Australia
- Third career NCAA Championships appearance (2020, '21)
- All-America Second Team in 2021 with an eighth-place giant slalom finish at the NCAA Championships. Also 15th in slalom
- Took ninth in GS at the 2020 NCAA Championships
- 2022 All-RMISA Women's Alpine Second Team
- Alpine Skier of the Meet for the 2022 Montana State Invitational, where Parker won the slalom
- Top GS finishes in 2022 were a pair of fourth-place efforts at the MSU Invitational and Utah Invitational
- Represented her native Australia at the 2022 Winter Olympics, competing in slalom
Joachim Lien – Alpine – Sr. - Rælingen, Norway
- Fourth NCAA Championships appearance (2019, '20, '21)
- Three time All-American, most recently earning First Team in 2021 both in giant slalom (fifth at NCAAs) and slalom (fourth at NCAAs)
- 2022 All-RMISA Men's Alpine Second Team
- Alpine Skier of the Meet for the 2022 RMISA Alpine Qualifiers
- Won the RMISA Qualifier giant slalom race in February 2022 and second in GS at the RMISA Invitational
- Ninth in slalom at the 2022 Utah Invitational

- Won the 5km freestyle at the Montana State Invitational and was third in the 10km classical
- Represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where Laukli skied to a 15th place finish in the women's 30km freestyle at the Olympics
Novie McCabe – Nordic – So. – Winthrop, Wash.
- Second NCAA Championships appearance (2021)
- 2022 NCAA West Regional Individual Champion (Women's Classic and Women's Freestyle)
- 2022 All-RMISA Women's Nordic First Team
- Nordic Skier of the Meet for Montana State Invitational
- Eight career college wins in 14 finishes, and 12 podiums in those 14 races
- Represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics
- Part of the U.S. cross-country 4x5km relay team that took sixth the Olympics
Sydney Palmer-Leger – Nordic – So. – Park City, Utah
- 2021 National Nordic Skier of the Year and two-time All-America First Team.
- Won individual NCAA championships in 5km classical and 15km freestyle during 2021.
- 2022 All-RMISA Women's Nordic First Team
- 2022 RMISA Most Valuable Skier (Women's Classic and Women's Freestyle)
