THE LINE UP
Utah will send 11 competitors to compete at the Roy Griak Invitational with
Maddie Reed and freshman
Kylie Hartnett being the only two that raced in the season-opener a few weeks back at the UVU Invitational. Joining Barger and Reed in Minnesota for their season debut include 2021 All-Pac-12 honorees
Simone Plourde and
Emily Venters. Additionally, freshman
Erin Vringer will be making her collegiate debut as a member of the Women of Utah.
Of the 11 racing for Utah, nine are upperclassmen while Hartnett and Vringer being the lone underclassmen as freshmen.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah sent a small contingent to the UVU Invitational back on Sept. 1 as part of its season-opening race.
Maddie Reed led the handful of racers with a 10th-place finish (19:40.5) in the 5k race for Utah.
Ellie Lundgreen, who ran in her first cross country race since competing at the 2019 NCAA Championships, clocked in at 20:16.3 for 16th-overall.
Freshman
Kylie Hartnett made her collegiate debut that race, recording a mark of 20:24.1 while
Maren Busath rounded out the group of Utes at the meet with a time of 21:56.6.

IN THE POLLS
The Utah cross country team heads into this weekend's race at No. 19 in the latest USTFCCCA National Polls, despite not racing the last couple of weeks. Conversely, the Utes moved up one spot in the USTFCCCA Mountain Regional Polls to No. 4 in the Mountain Region – which is considered the toughest region in the country.
