IN THE RANKINGS
After another idle weekend, the Women of Utah head into this weekend's meet at No. 20 in the latest (Week #3) USTFCCCA National Polls after opening the preseason rankings at No. 22. This marks the 19th-consecutive week (includes preseason rankings) the Utes have been ranked in the national poll dating back to week No. 3 in 2021 when Utah cracked the top-25 at No. 11 after winning the Dellinger Invitational.
The Conference of Champions leads the country with six teams ranked in the top-30 in #5 Stanford, #8 Washington, #10 Colorado, #17 Oregon, #20 Utah and #30 Oregon State.
OFF THE BLOCK
The Utes will send 11 of their runners to the meet this Friday in the championship race with less than a handful of runners competing in the "B" race. Of the 11 competing, freshman
Kyla Martin will be making her collegiate debut for the Women of Utah.
As one of the country's premier meet, Friday's Nuttycombe Invitational will feature 34 teams with 21 of those teams ranked in the USTFCCCA Top-30 on top of three teams receiving votes – including six ranked in the top-10.
PETERS SETTING THE TONE EARLY
Utah freshman
Anna Peters living up to her accolades from the prep level and have led the Utes from start to finish in her first two meet. She made her collegiate debut for Utah at the UVU Invitational 5k race and finished third with a lifetime best mark of 16:35.3. The Post Falls, Idaho, product then went out and led the Women of Utah to a second-place finish at the Griak Invitational with another third-place individual finish – this time with a lifetime best 6k time of 20:49.0.
UP NEXT
The Women of Utah return home to host its annual Utah Open the following week at Sunnyside Park on Thursday, Oct. 19, beginning at 1 p.m. (MT). The women's race will kick things off followed by the men.
