
Cross Country Set to Host Utah Open Thursday at Sunnyside Park

The No. 21-ranked Utah cross country team is set to host its annual Utah Open at Sunnyside Park this Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. (MT).
SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 21 Utah cross country team will host its annual Utah Open meet this Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. (MT) ahead of the championships season at Sunnyside Park. Admission is FREE for all spectators.

IN THE RANKINGS
The Women of Utah check in at No. 21 in the latest (Week #4) USTFCCCA National Polls after finishing 15th as a team at the Nuttycombe Invitational. This marks the 20th-consecutive week (includes preseason rankings) the Utes have been ranked in the national poll dating back to week No. 3 in 2021 when Utah cracked the top-25 at No. 11 after winning the Dellinger Invitational.
The Conference of Champions leads the country with six teams ranked in the top-30 in #5 Stanford, #9 Oregon State, #14 Oregon, #19 Washington, #20 Colorado and #21 Utah.

The Utes will have a small contingent compete at this week's Utah Open in Vero Boire, Chloe Kockler, Brooke Manson, Bri Rinn and Claire Rusovick. Of the five, Vero Boire would be making her Utah debut after sitting out last season due to injury. The other four have competed in at least one race this year for the Utes.

The 2nd annual Lauren McCluskey Race for Campus Safety will take place at 8 a.m. (MT) this Saturday, Oct. 21, on campus with the start and finish taking place at the McCarthey Family Track & Field Complex. The championships season begins the following week for the Women of Utah with the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships on deck first on Friday, Oct. 27, at Chambers Bay Golf Course. Gun is slated to go off for the women's race at 12:10 p.m. (MT) and will air on Pac-12 Networks.
