SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah Football program has completed its 2024 non-conference slate with the Utes playing two in-state foes with Southern Utah and Utah State, along with an out-of-conference matchup against the Baylor Bears.
The Utes will kickoff the 2024 season at home against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Thursday, Aug. 29. Utah and the Thunderbirds will faceoff for just the third time in program history with the Utes holding a 2-0 record, last beating Southern Utah 73-7 in Rice-Eccles Stadium in 2022.
Utah will then take on Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 7 at home, battling the Bears for the second season in a row for non-conference play. Utah beat the Bears on the road in 2023, scoring 17 unanswered points in the second half for the come-from-behind 20-13 victory.
The Utes will wrap-up non-conference play in 2024 on the road against the Utah State Aggies on Saturday, Sept. 14. The new series against Utah State includes a home game for the Aggies in 2024 and home games for the Utes in 2026 (Sept. 19) and 2031 (Sept. 13).
Utah holds the lead in the all-time series against Utah State at 79-29-4 with the last game between the two teams coming in 2015 with a Utah win (24-14). Utah has won 14 of the last 15 games against the Aggies, including 12 straight from 1998-2009.
