OPENING TIP
The Utes have posted an 8-1 record so far on the season and are 1-0 when competing on a neutral court. Utah is seeking their first win in program history over a No. 1 overall team and this is the third ever meeting vs a No. 1 overall team. The first meeting was 3/21/2005 vs No. 1 Stanford (Lost 88-62) and then 1/15/2021 vs No. 1 Stanford (Lost 82-54).
LAST TIME OUT
Utah handed an undefeated Saint Joseph's team it's first loss of the season by defeating the Hawks 74-48. Utah started out the game hot, outscoring SJU 22-6 in the first quarter. Utah lost some momentum in the second and third quarters, but Alissa Pili didn't let that stand as she went on to start the fourth quarter with 14 unanswered points. Pili ended the game with 31 points, breaking the record for most opponent points scored by an individual in the Hagan Arena.

Utah is returning all of last year's starting five including All-American and Pac-12 Player of the Year,

Pili has earned Preseason AP All-American Honorable Mention as well as been named to the Katrina McClain Preseason Watchlist, Naismith Trophy Watchlist and the WBCA Wade Trophy Preseason Watchlist. Pili was also placed No. 9 on the ESPN Top 25 Women's Basketball Players list. Kneepkens also raked in some preseason recognition as she was named to the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Watchlist and Naismith Trophy Watchlist.

Utah has been ranked No. 11 in the latest AP Top 25 polls. Utah has been ranked in the Top 25 for four consecutive weeks. Utah was ranked No. 5 in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll. This was the highest preseason ranking for Utah in school history and the first time the Utes have been ranked to start a season since 2005. Utah is one of six Pac-12 schools currently in the Top 25.

Utah is the nation's No. 1 scoring team averaging 96.2 points per game. Utah is also No. 1 in the the nation in field goal percentage (54.8%). The Utes are No. 1 in the nation in assists per game averaging 26.3 assists per game averaging an assist on 75% of all made field goals. HEAD COACH LYNNE ROBERTS
Roberts is in her ninth season at the helm of the Utes. She has posted a 147-104 record in her time at Utah. She was dubbed the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2023 after leading the team to its first ever Pac-12 regular season title. She led Utah to its second ever Sweet 16 appearance. Roberts also led the Utes to its highest AP Rankings in school history, including 12 weeks in the Top 10.
SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA
The No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks have an 8-0 record on the year. South Carolina is No. 1 in the country in scoring margin averaging +43.4 points per game. The Gamecocks are also leading the nation in rebounding 52.7 boards a game. South Carolina is also No. 1 in the country in blocks averaging 9.9 a game.
The Gamecocks are led by Kamilla Cardoso who averages 14.4 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game. Cardoso is shooting 61.3% from the field and 63.9% from the free throw line. South Carolina has five players averaging double digit scoring.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
