PROVO, Utah – The Utah track & field team closed out its first indoor met on Saturday at the BYU December Invitational inside Smith Fieldhouse with some movement in the all-time record book as well as a pair of event victories.

Saturday opened up with the 60m hurdle prelims with
Harley Daniel tying Kolbi Sims (2/21/20) for the second-fastest time in program history when she clocked in at 8.58 (aa) to register the fastest time heading into finals. The sophomore would finish second-overall after posting a time of 8.63 (aa).
Bailey Kealamakia also competed in the 60m hurdles, posting a mark of 9.02 (aa) in the prelims.

Megan Rose propelled herself in into third on the all-time list when she ran a PR mark of 7.55 (aa) in the 60m dash finals for second. The Boise, Idaho, native opened up the prelims with the fifth-fastest time at 7.68 (aa) before earning her spot in the finals.

Kealamakia also ran in the 60m dash, crossing the finish line at 7.75 (aa) for a new PR in the prelims.
Chloe Shewell ran in her first 60m dash ever as a Ute and won her heat with a mark of 7.87 (aa) while
Malia Overton posted a new personal best time of 7.91 (aa).
J'neya Hill made her collegiate debut in the same race, running a mark of 8.03 (aa).
Delaney Gates was just off of her PR in her heat, running a time of 8.31 (aa).

Utah nearly swept the podium in the 500m race with
Ally Gomm taking first with a mark of 1:13.40 with
Chloe Taylor right on her tales with a time of 1:13.98 in her Utah debut.
Millie Wilcox took fourth in the near sweep with a run of 1:15.22 while
Annie Murdock made her return to the track with a time of 1:17.30 for seventh-overall.
Bri Rinn was right behind Murdock, crossing at 1:17.52 to round things out for the Utes.

The 4x400m relay team closed the day off with a bang, winning the event with a time of 3:42.79 (aa) while the B squad took fifth with a time of 3:54.79 (aa). Â

Utah will now head into finals week and take the rest of the calendar year off before returning to the track to train for the Weber State Indoor Invitational (Jan. 19-20) and MLK Invitational (Jan. 20) up in Albuquerque.
