TEMPE, Ariz. – The Utah men's basketball team looks to get back on the win column as another crucial game awaits the Runnin' Utes inside Desert Financial Arena when they take on Arizona State this Saturday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m. (MT).
Â
Jordan Kent will have the first and only in-season meeting between the Utes and Sun Devils while Eddie House serves as the analyst on the Pac-12 Networks broadcast as Utah looks to pick up a split to end its road trip.
Â
DESERT DEATS
Since its loss last night in Tucson, Utah has never swept the Arizona schools since joining the Conference of Championships but looks to salvage the road swing with a split. Since 2011-12, Utah has split this road trip four-consecutive years between 2014-2019 with the Utes skipping the trip to the Grand Canyon State in 2015-16. Meanwhile, all five of those wins during that stretch have been against Arizona State. Additionally, Utah has been swept the other five seasons on its road trip against the Arizona schools – including two of the last three seasons.
Â
With Saturday's game in Tempe serving as the lone contest against the Sun Devils this season, the Utes are hoping to pick up their first win in the Valley of the Sun since 2019 – which was the tail-end of a four-game win-streak inside Deseret Financial Arena.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Despite a slow start, the Utes trailed by only 12 at the break but a hot start to the second-half was too much to overcome for the Runnin' Utes. Utah got as close as 68-56 with 8:59 remaining in the game before No. 8/8 Arizona pulled away for the 88-62 victory.
Branden Carlson picked up his 17th-consecutive game with double-digit points while
Marco Anthony and
Wilguens Jr. Exacte each chipped in with 12 points and 10 points, respectively. All 10 of Exacte's 10 points came during a stretch where Utah cut Arizona's lead back down to 12 points.
Â
UP NEXT
Utah will close out its home slate next week as it welcomes in #4/4 UCLA on Thursday, Feb. 23, for a 9 p.m. (MT) tip-off inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center on FS1. The Runnin' Utes will then wrap up their final home game of the 2022-23 campaign against USC at 6 p.m. (MT) with TV designation still TBD between ESPN and ESPNU.
Â
LOOKING AHEAD
The Runnin' Utes conclude the 2022-23 regular-season the following week on Saturday, March 4, at Colorado on Pac-12 Networks beginning at 3:30 p.m. (MT) with Jacob Tobey on the call alongside Eddie House. Â
