Regular Season Recap
The Utes have spent those last seven months putting together a regular season that saw them add numerous new marks to the program record book. Included on that list are 10 new top 10 scores and one program record contributed by the team's divers.
That one new school best belongs to freshman
Elias Petersen, who put himself at the top of the school's all-time 1m rankings during the Utes' January meet against BYU, then posted Utah's eighth best score in the 3m a day later. In that same meet,
Luke McDivitt put up the school's seventh-best 1m mark and
Ben Smyth reached seventh in the 3m top 10. McDivitt will be attempting to replicate the form he showed off at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships, where his point total of 400.75 in the platform set a program record and also made him the first Ute to ever win the conference's platform title.
Possibly the best performance of season from any Utah diver was came courtesy of
Holly Waxman, who put on her own show against the Cougars. Her 309.45 in the 1m and 348.90 in the 3m both stand second-best in program history.
Kathryn Grant will be looking to build on an excellent year that's seen her post personal-bests in the 1m, 3m and platform. When the Utes started February at the Air Force Diving Invite, Grant was razor sharp and posted her highest score ever in the 3m, piling up 335.50 points for the fourth-highest Utah score ever.
The most recent action for Utah's women's swimmers came on Jan. 28, when they dismantled BYU, 226-74. That meet included three wins for
Summer Stanfield, who has spent her senior year piling up one victory after another, 17 in total. Stanfield has also improved on her personal-bests in the 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley and she sits second all-time in the school record book in both events.
The Utah women closed out the regular season with five straight victories and some of the main contributors to those wins included
Norah Hay,
Reagan Cathcart,
Katie Hale and
Erin Palmer. All four have won multiple events during Utah's win streak, including two triumphs for Hay against BYU, and served as integral parts of the squad's relay teams. Hay and Hale will be looking to continue improving on the success they had at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships, where both swimmers posted multiple personal-bests.
