This is the second straight year the conference championships will be held in Federal Way and at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships, the Utes set numerous personal-bests and broke three school records. The first new program record came from the quartet of
Andrei Ungur,
Jaek Horner,
Cooper deRyk and
Finn O'Haimhirgin, who finished the 200 medley relay in 1:23.87. Horner later added a new school best in the 100 breaststroke and was a member of a 400 medley relay team that reached the finish in 3.07.29, recording another Utah record.
Regular Season Recap
The list of accomplishments for Utah's male swimmers so far in 2022-23 includes posting a long list of times that rank in the top 10 in program history and scoring four victories, the most recent of which came on Jan. 28 against BYU.
Freshman
Evan VanBrocklin has been one of Utah's most consistent winners during the current campaign and his work against BYU yielded a season-high three wins. VanBrocklin has won a total of 11 races during his rookie year and his efforts also yielded top 10 times in the 400 individual medley, 500 freestyle and 200 freestyle. The list of Utes who've written their names into the program record book in 2022-23 also includes Horner, who set new school records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Big Al Invitational in December and was also part of a record setting 400 freestyle relay team at the same meet.
The most recent additions to the record book came courtesy of
Brandon Miller,
Marko Kovacic and
Andrei Ungur during Utah's matchup against USC. Ungur posted the school's seventh-best time in the 100 butterfly, while Miller's 9:11.35 put him sixth in school history and Kovacic swam into fourth-place all-time in the 200 fly with a time of 1:44.96. The Utes will get the chance to rewriting their record book during their time in Washington.
