ON THE BLOCKS
The Utes will be all over the map this weekend as it sends three groups to different meets to compete. The group heading to the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Weber State will predominantly be distance runners with a couple of sprinters in the mix.
Grace Burnett,
Maren Busath,
Ellie Lundgreen and
Claire Rusovick will all make their indoor season debut for the Utes.
Â
Utah's main sprint contingency is set to compete at the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 10-11) without
Josefine Eriksen, who set the Norwegian indoor track and facility record for the 600m race last season inside the Albuquerque Convention Center. All eyes will be on Utah's
Dee Denis to see if she'll break a third school record in as many meets.Â
Â
Last, but not least, the distance squad will make its return to Dempsey Indoor for the Husky Classic (Feb. 10-11) with a full compliment of runners as they look to post qualifying times for NCAA Indoor Championships. Utah saw a couple new entries into the record book last season with
Emily Venters and
Simone Plourde while a handful of other Utes recorded new PRs at the Husky Classic.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Utah had a solid showing at the Speed & Power Meet last weekend up in Logan with nine runners posting new PRs while the trio of
Josefine Eriksen (T3rd),
Kelise Davis (T7th) and
Megan Rose (T10th) all saw themselves inserted or move up the all-time list at Utah in the 60m dash.
Â
UP NEXT
The Women of Utah will have more time to rest and train next weekend as it sends just the DMR squad to South Bend, Ind., for the Alex Wilson Invitational. The Utes set the school record last year at the same meet and will look to run a qualifying time for the NCAA Indoor Championships after just missing out last season.
