Miller, Ungur add names to Utah Swim & Dive record book
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Brandon Miller and Andrei Ungur both posted times that put them in the top 10 in the program record book in their respective events as the University of Utah men's swimming team competed on day two of the 2023 Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
"We had some great swims tonight," said associate coach Jos Smith. "Our men are doing a great job of swimming into the meet. They are getting better with each swim. We will continue to improve tomorrow."
The day started with the 500 freestyle and Evan VanBrocklin posted the Utes top time of 4:24.31, placing him 20th, and teammate Dylan Becker was right behind him, finishing in 4:24.45. Earlier in the day in the 500 free, Miller reached the finish in 4:24.29, which puts him 10th all-time in Utah history in that event.
In the 200 freestyle relay, Andrei Ungur, Finn O'Haimhirgin, JP Hynes and Jaek Horner combined for a time of 1:18.02, less than a second off the program record. That time earned them a fifth-place finish, while Ungur's time of 19.80 in the first leg of that relay puts him 10th all-time in the 50 free.
