MATCH WEEK
Utah Beach Volleyball returns to competition this week, heading to Boise State to play four matches. The Utes open the weekend with matches against Boise State and Arizona Christian this Friday, Mar. 31, at the Boise State Beach Volleyball Complex. Utah plays Boise State at 11 a.m. MT before closing out the day at 3 p.m. against Arizona Christian.

On Saturday, Apr. 1, Utah opens competition against Oregon at 1 p.m. MT. The Utes will then look forward to a rematch against Boise State at 3 p.m. MT to close out the weekend in Idaho. For live stats, click

QUICK HITS
• Utah has added a home match to the 2023 schedule, hosting Salt Lake Community College on Wednesday, Apr. 12, at 1:30 p.m. MT. It is the sole home match of the season for Utah.
• Utah is coming off a slate of 14-straight matches in the state of California in a two-week stretch.
• The Utes have three weeks of the regular season left before heading to the Pac-12 Championships.
• Utah has played five teams ranked in the top-20, and have four more opponents ranked in the top-20 scheduled to play in the regular season.

Amaya Messier and freshmanÂ
Katie McAlister have held down the top spot for the Utes in all but two matches this season and have earned seven wins on court one. The Ute duo earned Utah's sole dual point against UC Davis after taking a competitive three-set win, while they also earned a key win over Santa Clara's top duo to guide the Utes to a 3-2 victory. The top pair for Utah picked up their first Pac-12 victory against Arizona State as well, winning 21-16, 21-17. Most recently, McAlister and Messier earned a three-set win (21-23,21-17, 15-11) over Texas' top pair to clinch the 3-2 victory for the Utes.

SONJA & SAV STAYING STEADY
Utah's lineup has received a team-best nine wins from the duo of sophomoreÂ
Sonja Wessel and freshmanÂ
Savannah Cottam. The pair got off to a hot start after winning four straight matches to start the season, which included Utah's only dual point against Louisiana Monroe in a three-set battle. The pair for Utah clinched the dual match against Santa Clara (3-2) with a 21-19, 21-19 victory to highlight the season. Additionally, Cottam and Wessel earned a hard-fought win over Saint Mary's fifth pairing also in three sets, winning 14-21, 21-17, 15-11. During the last weekend of competition, the duo moved up to court four the past three matches and picked up two wins. Cottam and Wessel earned a three-set win over Texas' fourth pair to help guide Utah to the 3-2 victory, while they also picked up a 21-19, 21-17 win against #13 Long Beach State's #4 duo.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah wrapped up competition in California after playing 14 matches in the state. The Utes fell to CSUN, #16 Stetson and #13 Long Beach State, but the highlight of the weekend came against Texas where the Utes picked up a comeback 3-2 victory.
Kylie Pitzak and
Lauren Sayre evened the dual 1-1 after winning in straight sets, while Utah went to third sets on courts one and four after the Ute duos fought back in the second set. With the dual match on the line,
Savannah Cottam and
Sonja Wessel won 15-10 to tie the dual. Shortly after,
Amaya Messier and
Katie McAlister continued the momentum and picked up a 15-11 win to clinch the dual 3-2 for Utah. Cottam and Wessel also earned a win on their court against Long Beach State to continue their season success.

UP NEXT
The Utes head to the Pac-12 North Invitational to close out regular season Pac-12 play in Palo Alto, Calif. Utah opens the two-day event against Washington and Arizona on Friday, Apr. 7. The Utes will face Oregon for the second time this season on Saturday, Apr. 8, while closing out the tournament against USC on Saturday as well.
