White Defeats Red In 22 Forever Game, 38-28

SALT LAKE CITY – Spring camp came to an end today for the University of Utah Football program as they played in the 22 Forever Game with the White Team coming away with a 38-28 victory over the Red Team.
The 22 Forever Game, Utah's annual spring game, was renamed this season to continue the legacy that Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe left behind with proceeds from the game going to the 22 Forever Memorial Scholarship.
It may have been a chilly morning in Rice-Eccles Stadium, but it was warm in the tailgate lots as grills were fired up and fans were excited to have football back in Salt Lake City.
The White Team put together a solid performance from start to finish, recording 395 yards of total offense (309 pass, 86 rush) while holding the Red Team to just 247 and only 11 first downs. The Red Team finished the game with 133 pass yards and 114 yards on the ground.
Brandon Rose was 19-of-24 passing for 233 yards and a touchdown for the White Team with Luke Bottari also going 4-of-6 passing for 76 yards and a touchdown. Nate Johnson recorded 43 yards and a touchdown on 4-of-7 passing for the Red Team, adding 28 rushing yards with Mack Howard also going 1-of-3 passing for 60 yards and a score.
Bryson Barnes also took a few snaps at quarterback during the game for the Red Team, going 2-of-3 for 30 yards, also breaking free for a 32-yard rushing touchdown. Daniel Wood had nine carries for 34 yards and a touchdown for the White Team while Faysal Aden produced six carries for 35 yards and a touchdown for the Red Team.
Kaimana Hanohano had a 60-yard receiving touchdown for the Red Team with Chris Reed also catching an 11-yard touchdown. For the White Team, running back Ja'Quinden Jackson showed off his versatility by notching two catches for 52 yards and three rushes for 17 yards and a touchdown.
The White Team quarterbacks hit nine different players with passes throughout the game, including freshman Mikey Matthews who had seven catches for 59 yards. Money Parks racked up five receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown with Deven Johnson also scoring on a 65-yard reception.
On defense, Red Team member Justin Medlock led the game with 11 tackles with Brock Nowatzke adding eight with a pass breakup and a forced fumble. Malae Tanuvasa led the Red Team in pass breakups with two while Vou Fitisemanu III recorded seven stops, including four solo.
Josh Calvert led the Red Team with six tackles and a pass breakup while Aliki Vimahi added six tackles as well, including three solo stops. Newcomers Johnathan Hall and Miles Battle both had interceptions with Battles' counting as a pick-six had a pick-six with Chase Kennedy contributing three tackles and a forced fumble.
