SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah women's tennis team is set to host their last home matches of the season this weekend. The Utes will take on the Washington Huskies on Friday, April 7 at 1:30 p.m. before going up against the Washington State Cougars Sunday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m.

FAN ENGAGEMENT
Friday's match against Washington will be the Ace'ing Cancer Match. The Utes have partnered with Huntsman Cancer Institute and will be giving out pink t-shirts to the first 50 fans. Sunday's match against Washington State will be Senior Day. Following the match, Utah will have a meet and greet as well as the Senior Day honors for Katya Hersch,
Katya Townsend,
Madison Tattini and
Anastasia Goncharova.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah last took on the UCLA Bruins and lost 4-0. The Utes were unable to take the doubles point after Katya Townsend and Samantha Horwood were defeated on court two, 6-3 and Kaila Barksdale and Marcela Lopez lost on court three, 6-4.
UCLA took their final three points in singles play on courts one, five and six to clinch the match.
ITA NATIONAL RANKINGS
Head coach Ric Mortera has been able to keep the Utes ranked for the second consecutive year. In the most recent ITA poll, Utah women's tennis was able to come in at 60th in the nation.
HEAD COACH RIC MORTERA
Ric Mortera is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Utah women's tennis program in 2022-23. So far in his tenure he has accumulated a 42-38 overall record. During the 2021-22 season, Mortera had the Utes reaching new heights. The team started a program best 9-0, which included wins over Big Ten foes Indiana and Minnesota, as well as Pac-12 opponent Washington State. He helped the Utes sign a top ten recruiting class nationally (No. 9) in 2022 and was named the ITA Mountain Region Coach of the Year.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON
Washington is 14-3 this season and is currently 16th in the nation. Huskie player Hikaru Sato is currently ranked 97th. They have defeated every single Pac-12 opponent they have come up against, making them 5-0 in conference play.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON STATE
Washington State has won seven of their sixteen matches. They are currently unranked. However, Cougars Eva Alarez and Elyse Tse are currently 46th as a doubles team. WSU has yet to win a match since starting conference play, putting them on a five match losing streak.

Utah women's tennis will head to Arizona to take on the Arizona Wildcats on Friday, April 14th at 2:30 p.m. and the Arizona State Sun Devils the following day at 1 p.m.
