Cameron Rising Earns Spot On Manning Award Watch List

NEW ORLEANS – University of Utah quarterback Cameron Rising has earned a spot on the Manning Award Watch List, announced this morning by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The award is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
Rising is one of 33 quarterbacks named to the preseason watch list with the Pac-12 leading the way with six selections. The Ventura, Calif., native has also been named to the Davey O'Brien and the Maxwell Award watch lists after earning semifinalist nods for both in 2022.
Rising is a two-time All-Pac-12 selection after leading the Utes to their second-straight Pac-12 title in 2022 where he earned MVP of the championship game.
He has played in 27 career games at Utah with 25 starts and is tied for fifth all-time as a Ute in starting quarterback wins (18). In back-to-back years, he has finished in the top-10 in ESPN's QBR Rating, also ranking in the top-30 nationally in 2022 in completion percentage (.647), passing touchdowns (26) and points responsible for (196).
During the 2022 season, he recorded 3,034 passing yards on 249-of-385 passing (8 INT, 26 TDs), adding 77 rushes for 465 yards and six rushing scores. Rising had nine games with 200+ passing yards, including one 300-yard game and a 400-yard game.
He also completed 60-percent or higher of his passes in 10 games, including four in the 70-percent range. He had eight multi-passing touchdown games along with two games where he rushed and passed for touchdowns.
Rising received national recognition for his career-high night against No. 4 USC during the regular season, finishing the win with 415 passing yards (30-of-44) and two touchdowns, adding 11 rushes for 60 yards and a career-best three rushing scores, also punching in the game winning two-point conversion.
