IRVING, Texas –
Erin Vringer of the Utah cross country team was named Big 12 Runner of the Week once again after leading the Women of Utah to the team title last weekend at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.
This is Vringer's second runner of the week honor in a three-week span and becomes the first Ute to earn multiple weekly honors among any conference affiliation for the Utes. She's also the second Big 12 athlete on the women's side to earn multiple honors this season, joining Judy Chepkoech from Arizona State while the two are tied for most weekly honors in a single-season in Big 12 Conference history.
The Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada product came out firing on all cylinders once again and was part of the lead pack the time she crossed the 3k marker. Vringer would move into second by the time she reached 5k with teammate
McKaylie Caesar by her side.
Vringer finished in second with a PR time of 19:49.8 – her second-straight meet with a new PR besting her previous of 20:14.2 set at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Sept. 27. Utah would go on to have its top-5 finishers place in the top-10 to capture its second Bill Dellinger Invitational in a four-year span having won back in 2021.
The Utes will host their annual meet at Sugar House Park this year beginning with the women at 1 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, Oct. 24, followed by the men at 1:45 p.m. Utah will then turn its attention to the Big 12 Conference Championships (Nov. 1) – which will take place at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course starting at 9 a.m. (MT) / 10 a.m. (CT) local.
