BOULDER, Colo. – Despite a late-game offensive surge, the University of Utah Football team fell on the road against No. 18 Colorado on Saturday afternoon, 49-24. Utah is 4-6 overall and 1-6 in Big 12 play.

After an interception by Lander Barton on Colorado's first play of the game, Utah was able to get on the board early with a 32-yard field goal by Cole Becker on the backend of a seven-play, seven-yard drive. It would be a 14-point swing for the Buffaloes though, connecting on a 40-yard touchdown pass, followed by a punt return for a touchdown to make it 14-3 with 5:49 left in the first quarter.

The Utes made it a one-possession game with a 34-yard field goal at the 5:35 mark in the second quarter, but Colorado would answer once again, scoring on a six-yard receiving touchdown to make it 21-6. Becker would hit his third field goal of the game as time ran out at half, knocking in a 47-yarder to cut the Buffalo lead to 21-9.

The Utes would commit their second interception of the game early in the third quarter, setting up Colorado's third offensive touchdown on a 37-yard rush with the Buffaloes taking a 28-9 lead with 11:43 on the clock. With under seven minutes to play in the third, senior Dorian Singer returned a punt 17 yards to the Colorado 40-yard line, setting up his own touchdown play as Isaac Wilson found Singer in the corner of the end zone on the next play, cutting the Buffalo lead to 28-16.

Colorado opened the fourth quarter with a 47-yard touchdown pass to take a 35-16 lead against the Utes, but Utah continued to fight, cutting the Buffalo lead to 35-24. The Utes scored on a 75-yard drive that included two 20+ yard catches from Carsen Ryan with the drive ending on a three-yard touchdown catch from Caleb Lohner and a two-point conversion from Spencer Fano.

Unfortunately for the Utes, Colorado would score 14-unanswered points in the final five minutes of the game for the 49-24 victory.

GAME LEADERS
Wilson finished the game 21-of-40 passing for 236 yards and two touchdowns with Luke Bottari also going 1-for-1 for five yards in the fourth quarter.

Through the air, Ryan had a career-high four catches for a career-best 78 yards, including a career-long snag of 25 yards. Dorian Singer added five catches for 65 yards and his first touchdown as a Ute with Micah Bernard grabbing a career-high six catches (22 yds).

Linebacker Johnathan Hall led the Utes in total tackles with a career-best seven stops (2.0 TFL) while Smith Snowden added six tackles along with 41 yards on kick returns. Barton wrapped up the game with five tackles and an interception with Karene Reid adding five tackles which included a sack.

The Utes return to Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 23 to take on the Iowa State Cyclones for Senior Day. The game time and TV network will be announced at a later date.
