SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah Lacrosse program came away with its first victory of the season, beating the Vermont Catamounts 22-12 inside Rice-Eccles Stadium today, improving to 1-3 on the season.
It was the second time in program history that Utah and Vermont have faced off in the Salt Lake Valley with the last time the two facing off in Rice-Eccles Stadium being in 2019 – Utah's first game as a Division I program.
The Utes outshot Vermont 53-40 with 38 of the Utes' shots being on goal. Utah's 22 goals ties for fourth all-time in program history, marking the sixth time Utah has had 20-or-more goals in a game in the Drew McMinn era.
GAME LEADERS
Senior
Jordan Hyde and sophomore
Ryan Stines combined to score 10 of Utah's 22 goals, putting up five goals each with Stines adding an assist for six points and Hyde producing three ground balls as well. Senior
Tyler Bradbury contributed three goals and two assists for five points while
Carson Moyer also scored his first hat trick of the season.

Justus Peterson,
Dallin Tanner,
Bryce Horton and
Will Overly all added one goal each to round out Utah's scoring with McMahon racking up a season-high two assists as well.

FIRST QUARTER BREAKDOWN
Utah started the game on a 4-0 run, taking the early lead with 8:52 on the clock. Moyer got the Utes started with an assist from Bradbury with the duo trading on the next goal with the point coming from Bradbury on an assist from Moyer.
Goals from McMahon and Overly would give Utah the 4-0 lead before Vermont ended the run with 8:13 to go. Another 4-0 run would put the Utes up 8-1 at the 2:39 mark with Hyde finding the back of the net twice, but the Catamounts would once again end the scoring run with the Utes taking an 8-2 lead into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER BREAKDOWN
After taking a 9-2 lead early in the second quarter on a goal from Moyer, Vermont scored three unanswered to cut the Utah lead to 9-5 with 8:51 remaining in the half. Back-to-back goals from Hyde and Stines put the Utes up 11-5 with Hyde securing a hat trick before the end of the first half.
The Utes and the Catamounts would trade goals in the final five minutes of the second quarter with Hart and Stines both finding the back of the net, eventually taking a 13-8 lead into halftime.
THIRD QUARTER BREAKDOWN
Vermont made it a four-point game with 10:43 on the clock, cutting Utah's advantage to just 13-9, but a 4-0 run on goals by Moyer, Stines, Bradbury and Hyde gave Utah a 17-9 lead to head into the final quarter of the game.
Utah had eight shots on goal in the third quarter, scoring four, with Vermont having five shots on goal and its one point. The Catamounts also committed six turnovers in the third quarter compared to Utah's two.
FOURTH QUARTER BREAKDOWN
The Utes would be held scoreless in the fourth quarter until the 6:06 mark with Vermont cutting the Utah lead down to 17-12. It would be Tanner's first-career goal that would break the drought with a goal from Stines quickly following to make it 19-12 with 5:01 left to play.
Bradbury and Peterson made it 21-12 with under two minutes to play with Hyde scoring Utah's final goal of the game, securing the 10-point victory at home.
