Utah Beach Volleyball Takes Two Wins on Final Day of San Jose Invitational

Utes win eight three-set battles and begin a new three-game win streak
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Utah Beach Volleyball picked up two wins to close out their weekend from the inaugural San Jose Invitational. The Utes defeated Sacramento State, 4-1, in their first match of the day. Moving to the final match of the weekend, Utah finished the day with a sweep of host San Jose State, 5-0. Utah would be battle-tested, as eight matches on the day would go to three sets.

Utah's first pairing of Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister would be pushed to three-set battles in both of their matches. In the match against Sacramento State, Griffin and McAlister took the match 25-23, 16-21, 15-13. Taking the top court for the second match of the afternoon, the pair dropped the first set 11-21, bouncing back to take the final two sets, 21-19, 15-9.

The duo of Bella Vezzani and Rylee Johnson would be tested with a pair of three-set matches on the day, taking the first match from Sacramento State, 21-17, 16-21, 15-9. Johnson and Vezzani secured their second win of the day with a 21-16, 21-23, 15-7, win.

On the third court, Chloe Narancich and Lauren Sayre started their day with a three-set match, defeating the Hornets pair, 21-13, 21-23, 15-11. Narancich and Sayre would take their second match in straight sets, defeating their opposition from San Jose State, 21-14, 21-13.

Utah secured their fourth win against Sacramento State, coming from the pairing of Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch, 21-19, 17-21, 15-8. The pairing of Pitzak and Koch took their second match of the day in straight sets against San Jose State, 21-13, 21-14. The final Utah duo of Sonja Wessel and Milan Ray finished the sweep of San Jose State with a 21-8, 21-14 win.
