Nine With Utah Ties Selected to U.S. Ski Team Rosters

Three current Utes and six alumni accept nominations
SALT LAKE CITY – Three current Utah Ski Team student-athletes, along with six alumni of the program, have been named to the Stifel U.S. Ski Team cross country and alpine rosters announced this week.

Current Utes selected include Tatum Grosdidier (alpine C), Zachary Jayne (cross country D) and Jay Poulter (alpine C).

Alumni in the mix include Kevin Bolger (cross country B), Sam DuPratt (alpine B), Luke Jager (cross country B), Sophia Laukli (cross country A), Novie McCabe (cross country B) and Sydney Palmer-Leger (cross country B). Bolger, Jager, Laukli and McCabe all represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Grosdidier is beginning her first year with the Utes, and begins her second year with the U.S. Ski Team. She earned three podiums in her inaugural national team season, including a third-place result in Super G at the 2024 U.S. National Championships. Grosdidier also qualified for the 2024 Junior World Championships, making three starts with a 14th-place giant slalom result.

Jayne makes his U.S. Ski Team debut after making seven starts during the 2024 collegiate season with Utah. His first year with the Utes netted five top-20 results, as well as qualification for the Junior World Championships  His collegiate racing career began at the College of St. Scholastica, where Jayne was the 2023 NCAA Central Region Champion in the 20K classic.

A four-year U.S. Ski Team member, Poulter begins his sophomore season with the Utes after making four collegiate starts as a freshman. He missed a portion of the RMISA season while competing at the FIS Junior World Championships, where Poulter's top results included a seventh-place performance in Super G and sixth in the team combined event.

Bolger raced with the Utes from 2014-17, finishing his collegiate career as a two-time NCAA All-American. Returning to the cross country B team, he is a renowned sprint skier and made 18 World Cup starts last season. In the Minneapolis World Cup during February 2024, Bolger placed in the top-20 of the men's freestyle sprints.

DuPratt continues his U.S. Ski Team career and has shown incredible resilience through injuries. The 2023 NorAm super G overall champion skied two seasons with the Utes (2017-18), taking home All-American honors in giant slalom and netting seven podiums while with Utah. He made his World Cup debut in 2016.

Returning to the B team, Jager was a two-time All-American during his Utah career which spanned the 2020-23 seasons. He skied to 10 podiums as a Ute with three wins, the final two coming during his senior season. Jager was a two-time U.S. National Champion during the 2023-24 season.

Now entering her fifth season on the national team, Laukli was promoted to the A team after a solid 2023-24 season. Laukli notched her first World Cup race victory, standing atop the podium on the final day of the seven-stage Tour de Ski which includes the famed Alpe Cermis hill climb. She skied with the Utes in the 2022 and '23 collegiate seasons, capping her career as a five-time NCAA First Team All-American. In 2022, she was the individual national champion in women's 15K freestyle with a 33-second cushion.

McCabe is another B team returner and was a three-time NCAA individual champion with the Utes. She skied three seasons with Utah (2021-23), finishing her collegiate career with 19 wins including sweeping the women's Nordic races at the 2023 NCAA Championships. McCabe's 2022 season saw her reach the podium in all six of her college starts with four wins, winning the 5K classic at NCAAs and being named USCSCA National Women's Nordic Skier of the Year. She made 17 World Cup starts last season, capped off with an 11th-place result in the 20K freestyle in Falun, Sweden.

Palmer-Leger is coming off a standout career at Utah (2021-24) with 11 wins, including three NCAA individual titles and seven All-American citations. She owns 11 World Cup starts, including seven during the 2024 season with a top-23 result in Falun during the 20K freestyle. As a freshman in 2021, Palmer-Leger was named USCSCA National Women's Nordic Skier of the Year.
