SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 10 University of Utah Football team struggled to succeed in the red zone at home on Saturday night, falling to the Arizona Wildcats, 23-10. Utah is 4-1 overall this season and 1-1 in Big 12 play.

With almost identical stats, Utah finished the game with 364 yards of total offense (280 pass, 84 rush) with Arizona producing 358 (197 pass, 161 rush). The Utes also had 19 first downs compared to Arizona's 17 with the Utes averaging 14.0 yards per completion and 5.3 yards per play overall.

The difference in the game would come down to the ground game and red zone production with Utah only averaging 2.9 yards per rush, also going 2-for-4 in the red zone. The Utes were also unable to get pressure on the quarterback, recording zero sacks for the first time this season

GAME LEADERS
Senior wide receiver put together a strong performance for the Utes with a career-high tying nine catches for 155 yards, the most by a Utah wide receiver since 2010. Tight end Brant Kuithe also had a season-best five catches, reeling in 53 yards.

Freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson threw for a career-high 280 yards, tying his career-high in completions (20-of-40 passing, 2 INT, 1 TD). On the ground, senior Micah Bernard also had 16 carries for 91 yards, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

For the defense, safety Tao Johnson led the team with a career-high nine stops, adding his first-career interception to his stat line. Safety Alaka'i Gilman added a season-best eight tackles with a career-high 2.0 tackles for loss.

Linebackers Lander Barton and Johnathan Hall also put together solid performances with Barton contributing six tackles while Hall recorded a career-best 2.0 tackles for loss.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Utah won the time of possession battle 31:55 to 28:05, the eighth straight game that the Utes have held the ball longer than their opponent, dating back to Utah's game against Washington in 2023.
Senior wide receiver Dorian Singer finished the game with 155 receiving yards on a career-high tying nine catches. It is his fifth-career 100-yard game (first at Utah) and the most receiving yards by a Utah WR since 2010 (Devonte Christopher, Sept. 2 vs. Pittsburgh, 155 yds).
Six of Singer's nine catches were in the first half, recording 101 yards (16.8 ypc). The last time a Utah player had 100+ yards in the first half of a game was Dalton Kincaid vs. Colorado on Nov. 26, 2022 (102 yards on five receptions).
Utah also had a pair of players extend their catch streaks with tight end Brant Kuithe catching a game in 37 straight games and wide receiver Money Parks catching a pass in 28 straight.
Punter Jack Bouwmeester tied his season-long punt with a 60-yarder in the third quarter. He now has 26 career punts for 50+ yards which includes four for 60-or-longer.
