Runnin' Utes Welcome in Red Raiders for Big 12 Home-Opener Saturday

Utah men’s basketball hosts #RV/RV Texas Tech this Saturday, Jan. 4, at 5 p.m. (MST) for its Big 12 home-opener.
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men's basketball team looks to get back on the win column this Saturday, Jan. 4, as it plays host to #RV/RV Texas Tech inside the friendly confines of the Jon M. Huntsman Center for its Big 12 home-opener.

Pete Sousa will once again have the call for fans on ESPN+, this time with former Oklahoma State guard Bryndon Manzer as Utah hosts the Red Raiders in SLC for just the second time in program history.

Utah's game vs. Oklahoma State next Saturday, Jan. 11, will be part of a double-header with the women's team – who will host Houston at 1:30 p.m. (MST) prior to the men's game at 5 p.m. (MST).

Heading into Saturday's contest, Utah is 18-7 since the turn of the century (1999-2000) in their home conference opening game. Of those 25 games the Utes were 1-3 against ranked teams and 1-1 in overtime games.

Utah will once again hit the road as it continues conference play, this time back to the Midwest for a 6 p.m. (MST) battle against Iowa State on Tuesday, Jan. 7 on ESPN+ inside the Hilton Coliseum. Shawn Kenney will have the call for fans as the Runnin' Utes make their return to Ames, Iowa, for the first time since Dec. 30, 1936, a 40-27 affair in favor of the Cyclones.

The Utes then return to Salt Lake City to welcome the Oklahoma State Cowboys back inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center for the first time since Dec. 12, 1980. Utah was victorious in that meeting in SLC 79-73 but the Oklahoma State had the upper hand in its last meeting on Nov. 28, 2009, 77-55, in Las Vegas. Lowell Galindo will guide fans through the action alongside former OK State guard Bryndon Manzer in the ESPN+ broadcast as part of the Ute Proud Game for Utah.
