Utes in the Pros: Twice is Nice for Johnson at Pro Bowl Games

ORLANDO – There will be a Utah Football connection on both sides in Super Bowl LIX next weekend, but in the lead-up to the big game between the Chiefs and Eagles, former All-American and All-Conference selection Jaylon Johnson will represent the Chicago Bears and the NFC in the Pro Bowl Games.
Johnson was selected to the NFC roster for the second straight season, after being picked as a reserve for last year's Pro Bowl Games. This time, however, he was named a starter at cornerback.
The Pro Bowl Games begin with a Skills Showdown tonight from 5-6:30 p.m. MT on ESPN and streaming on NFL+. Action then turns to the Pro Bowl Games Championship, which will be played Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. MT. It'll be available on a variety of platforms including ESPN, ABC, ESPN+ and NFL+.

Johnson is wrapping up his fifth NFL season—all spent with the Bears—starting all 70 games in that time including 17 during the 2024 campaign. He made 48 total tackles this year, forced one fumble and totaled eight passes defended with two interceptions. Last season, Johnson was named AP All-Pro Second Team.
Recapping Conference Championship Weekend
AFC Championship – Kansas City 32, Buffalo 29
The Chiefs' defense was guided in part by defensive quality control coach Alex Whittingham, with Kansas City becoming the first back-to-back Super Bowl Champion to return to the game. Going against the NFL's second-best scoring offense, the Chiefs stopped two-point conversion attempts in both the second and third quarters to keep the score within one.
For the Bills, rookie safety Cole Bishop made his first start of the playoffs and fifth overall—leading the team with 10 tackles. Tight end Dalton Kincaid had two catches in the game for 13 yards.
Bishop finishes his first NFL season with 53 combined tackles (1 TFL) between the regular season and playoffs, two passes defended and one forced fumble. Kincaid racked up 44 receptions for 448 yards and two touchdowns during his second NFL season. In the playoffs, he added six more catches for 71 yards.
NFC Championship – Philadelphia 55, Washington 23
Wide receiver and return man Britain Covey is in his third season with the Eagles, though he was placed on injured reserve late in December. He finished the regular season with 7 receptions for 34 yards, as well as six punt returns for 46 yards. Covey played in five games with one start.
For Washington, the loss marked the close of Brian Johnson's first season as the Commanders' assistant head coach and offensive pass game coordinator. It was the rookie season for quarterback Jayden Daniels, who passed for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns during the regular season and added another 822 yards plus five touchdowns in the playoffs.
