SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Athletics today announced a new multiyear partnership with Minky Couture, naming the Utah-based luxury blanket company the Official Blanket Partner of Utah Athletics. The partnership will debut with the unveiling of two new on-court logos at the Jon M. Huntsman Center on Friday, October 17, during the Utah men's basketball team's exhibition opener against the Nevada Wolf Pack.
The new Minky Couture on-court logos will be prominently displayed on both the home and visiting sides of the court, holding high-visibility positions in one of college sports' most storied venues. As centerpieces of the partnership, the logos will appear throughout the season during men's and women's basketball games and select community events hosted at the Huntsman Center.
"We are pleased to partner with such an established and well-respected company as Minky Couture to feature their brand on the basketball court in the Huntsman Center," said
Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics at the University of Utah. "Minky Couture is a local brand founded on care, built on quality, and deeply rooted in our community. Our men's and women's basketball games are viewed by large audiences, both in-person and on TV, and bringing the Minky Couture brand into that environment signals more than a logo, but a reflection of our shared values that resonate far beyond game day."
Established in 2009, Minky Couture began when founder Sandi Hendry set out to bring comfort to her daughter during an extended hospital stay. When traditional blanket options fell short, she created an adult-sized luxury blanket that quickly drew attention from family, friends, and community members looking for the same premium quality and sense of comfort. What began as a deeply personal act has since grown into a female-founded and operated Utah-based business built on the belief that comfort can offer both physical and emotional support.
Now, through this partnership with Utah Athletics, Minky Couture brings that same spirit to gameday, offering fans a tangible connection to community, care, and belonging in the brand's largest partnership effort to-date.
"Minky Couture was born from a desire to bring comfort to those who need it most, and that mission has never changed," said Hendry, Founder and CEO of Minky Couture. "Partnering with Utah Athletics allows us to share that comfort in new and exciting ways by connecting with the Utah Utes community, celebrating our shared values, and supporting student-athletes and fans with the same care that started it all."
With the debut of the new on-court logos, Minky Couture's presence will also extend across the full scope of Utah Athletics, from licensed merchandise to fan activations at marquee events. As such, the brand will have a strong presence at football, men's and women's basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball, all underscoring a commitment to quality, community engagement, and Utah pride.
Developed in collaboration with
JMI Sports – the exclusive multimedia rights partner of Utah Athletics, operating locally as Utah Utes Partnerships – the partnership will also include:
- A custom Utah Utes fan blanket (available here), expanding Utah's licensed product portfolio, among Minky's Officially Licensed Collegiate Blankets.
- A Minky Couture-branded golf cart in Utah Village during home football tailgates, offering fans direct access to Minky Couture's product line.
- Presenting Partner status at the January 30th Red Rocks gymnastics meet against Arizona State, deepening Minky Couture's connection to one of Utah' Athletics' most celebrated programs.
"This partnership reflects the kind of alignment we look for: strong local roots, shared values, and a clear vision," said
Matt Smith, Vice President, Partnerships at Utah Utes Partnerships. "We are proud to deliver not only premium visibility for Minky Couture at the Huntsman Center but also premium activations that give fans the chance to experience the brand's identity and quality firsthand. This integrated partnership makes Minky Couture a true extension of the Utah Athletics experience."
