KANSAS CITY – Utah men's basketball guard
Terrence Brown was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention recipient on Monday as the league announced its end of season awards.
Brown joins
Gabe Madsen (2021-25) as the second Runnin' Ute to earn All-Big 12 Honorable Mention since Utah joined the league last season.
The 6-3 guard finished the regular-season averaging 18.6 points in conference on top of averaging 2.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 18 league games. The Minneapolis, Minn., product's 18.6 points average was good for fifth-best in Big 12 action.
He reached double-figures in 16-of-18 conference and scored 20-plus points in eight of those contests – including a 33-point game at Kansas State.
Nationally, Brown is ranked 34th in the nation in scoring with 614 points on the year while his 19.8 scoring average ranks 36th in the country through games on March 7.
In his first season with the Runnin' Utes, Brown has scored 614 points at the end of the regular-season – which made him just the fifth player since 1996-97 to reach the 600-point total in a single-season joining Branden Carlson (2023-24), Jakob Poeltl (2015-16), Andrew Bogut (2004-05) and Keith Van Horn (1996-97).
Meanwhile, he is 1-of-22 players in Division I to have scored at least 600 points and dished out 100 assists this season through games on March 7. Of the 22 players, 11 of them hail from a Power Conference and is 1-of-3 that hail from the Big 12 Conference (AJ Dybantsa, P.J. Haggerty,
Terrence Brown).
Utah is set to face ninth-seeded Cincinnati in the opening round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament this Tuesday, March 10, at 1 p.m. (MDT) / 2 p.m. (CDT) local on ESPN+ from T-Mobile Center.
