Utes’ full-team effort proved too much for Knights

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball wasted no time putting the UCF Knights away at the Huntsman Center on Halloween night, giving them the 3-0 sweep.

All three sets started close, but the Utes dialed in each game to walk away with convincing wins (25-17, 25-19, 25-22).

SET ONE
Set one started close between Utah and UCF before the Utes pulled away a little starting with an Emrie Moea'i kill that was followed by a Katelynn Field block to make it 8-6.

Utah continued to keep the pressure on the Knights thanks to a full team-effort with Moea'i, Field, and Neea-Maria Joki contributing three kills, while Kamryn Gibadlo and Levani Key-Powell added two each to win set one, 25-17.

SET TWO
Much like set one, set two started close, but the Utes established a small lead over the Knights after the match tied up 6-6.

Gibadlo came alive adding five kills to her count, while Moea'i added another three to give the Utes a 25-19 set win.

SET THREE
UCF didn't fold in set three taking a 6-4 lead before the Utes jumped ahead 12-9.

Utah kept their lead, eventually putting the Knights away 25-22 for the set and match win.

STANDOUT STATS

Utes Total Stats: 36 kills off 90 total attempts, three aces, 32 assists, 18 blocks, 31 digs.
Field recorded a career night in blocks (10) while tying her assists record (1).
Leah Wilton-LaBoy also hit a career-high in blocks (10) while adding six digs and 28 assists.
Moea'i was the epitome of efficient posting a career-high hitting percentage (.615) with nine kills coming off 13 attempts. She also contributed two digs and six blocks.
Gibadlo's 12 kills puts her just five kills away of hitting 1000 in her career.
Utah had six different Utes contribute at least one kill and one block, and eight Utes contribute at least one dig.

UP NEXT
Utah will hit the road for back-to-back Top 25 matchups starting with No. 11 TCU on Friday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. MT followed by No. 20 Baylor on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. MT.

The match against the Horned Frogs will air on ESPN+ while the match against the Bears will be on ESPN2.
