NEW ORLEANS – The Utah cross country 1-2 punch of
Annastasia Peters and
Erin Vringer garnered USTFCCCA All-Region honors once again after finishing in the top-25 at the NCAA Mountain Regional.
This is the third-consecutive year that Peters has earned all-region accolades since joining the program as a true freshman. The Post Falls, Idaho, product finished 25th-overall at the regional meet with a run of 21:11.4 for her third top-25 finish this season.
Vringer grabbed her second-straight all-region award after leading the Utes to a fifth-place finish at the regional meet. The Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, native was the first Utah runner to cross the finish line at 20:23.5 for eighth-overall as an individual.
Peters (2023-25) also becomes the second Ute to earn three-consecutive all-region honors – joining fellow All-American Amanda Mergaert (2010-12). She is now just the third runner from Utah to earn three all-region accolades, joining Mergaert and Poppy Tank (2016-17, 19).
With her second all-region award, Vringer now joins
Morgan Jensen (2023-24), Peters, Tank (2016-17), Hannah McInturff (2015-16) and Grayson Murphy (2016-17) as the only other Utes to garner the award back-to-back years.
Both Peters and Vringer have now led the Utes in two races each with the pair finishing 1-2 in every major race for Utah this year and six-straight races dating back to last season.
The 22nd-ranked Women of Utah are headed to Columbia, Mo., this Saturday, Nov. 22, to compete in NCAA Cross Country Championships at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. Runners are scheduled to toe the line at 8:20 a.m. (MDT) on ESPNU with Jon Anderson and Carrie Tollefson on the call.
