SALT LAKE CITY – The 2025 Utah beach volleyball season commences in Davis, Calif.
, as the Utes take on UC Davis, San Jose State and Santa Clara for four matches over the weekend. The action starts at 10:00 a.m. (MT) on Saturday, Feb. 22 against tournament host UC Davis. The tournament serves as the opening of Utah's first season as a Big 12 member.

NEW SEASON, NEW CONFERENCE
After the 2024 campaign where the Utes went 19-16, Utah is joining the Big 12 conference. This is the conference's inaugural season hosting beach volleyball. The four-team conference consists of TCU, Arizona State, Arizona and Utah. There are four regular season conference matches scheduled for Utah, prior to the Big 12 tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. The Utes are joining a very competitive conference with TCU being ranked No. 2 in the nation in the preseason poll, Arizona State being ranked No. 11, and Arizona receiving the most votes outside of the ranking.

FORWARD MOMENTUM FOR THE PROGRAM
- The Utes are entering their ninth season as a Division I NCAA program, with an all-time record of 51-114.
- The 2024 campaign was the winningest season in program history, posting a program record of 19 wins.
- The past two seasons for Utah have included two first-round Pac-12 Tournament victories, both versus Oregon.

UTES NO. 1 RETURNING
Utah's No. 1 pair from last season is back in action in 2025. The duo of
Langley Griffin (So.) and
Katie McAlister (Jr.) went 18-16 throughout the 2024 season and went on two four-game win streaks.

KNOWING HEAD COACH BRENDA WHICKER
Coach Whicker enters her ninth season at the helm of Utah beach volleyball. She is coming off the winningest season in program history finishing with a record of 19-16, with a first-round Pac-12 Tournament victory over Oregon. Whicker was a volleyball player at Utah under current volleyball head coach Beth Launiere from 1994-97. She holds the record for most aces in Utah volleyball history and is one of six players in Utah volleyball history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.

SISTERS REUNITED
Maeve Griffin, sister of
Langley Griffin, is one of seven newcomers to Utah Beach Volleyball this season. Maeve saw two seasons of in-game action for the Washington Huskies volleyball and beach volleyball teams. Before her time at Washington, she played volleyball at Peninsula High School in Was with her sister Langley. Maeve transferred to Utah for her graduate season, to now unite with Langley.

UTAH BEACH CLASSIC
Utah's lone home competitions are set for March 28-29
, when the Utes host the fourth edition of the Utah Beach Classic. This year, UC Davis, Boise State, Oregon and Big 12 opponent Arizona will join Utah for the weekend in Salt Lake City. The Utes will host at the Lassonde Sports Court on the Utah campus.
