HOOKSETT, N.H. – The University of Utah lacrosse team traveled to the East Coast to face the University of Vermont, where they fell 11-10, in the New Hampshire Sports Dome on Friday afternoon.
With an abrupt change of scenery due to weather, Utah found ten goals with nine different Utes in the match against Vermont and their first 100% clears percentage this season. After a back-and-forth match, the Utes would ultimately fall 11-10 to the Cats, bumping the all-time record to 2-3.
GAME LEADERS
With nine different Utes marking a goal, junior
Zachary White led the pack, tying his career-high with two goals. Among the nine Utes, junior
Ryan Stines found the net in the last minute of the third quarter, and earned three helpers pushing him to the front of the Utes roster with four points. Sophomore
Cade Faulkner and senior
Cody Hart each earned a point off a goal and tied for the top with six shots.
On the defensive, junior
Nikko DiPonio led the squad with six ground balls and one caused turnover. Coming in second, sophomore
Mikey Crane tallied a season-high of three ground balls. In goal, junior
Colin Lenskold saved six of Vermont's attempts.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Faulkner was the first to put the Utes on the scoreboard, scoring in the first two minutes of the match.
- Sophomore Brady Grandstaff and freshman Sky Rold clocked their first minutes this season against the Cats, each earning a goal. For Rold, this would mark his first appearance as a Ute and first collegiate point.
- Just two short in the first quarter, Utah outshot the Cats in the three remaining quarters, accumulating 36 shots to Vermont's 30.
- This marks the fourth game this season that the Utes are the first on the scoreboard and the first to shoot.
- Sophomore Marco Pascarella attempted 14 face-offs for Utah, making his debut in that position.
- Utah cleared 27-of-27 opportunities, earning a 100% on clears for the first match since taking on Duke in the first round of the NCAA tournament in 2024.
