BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Utah Ski Team closed out a victory in the Montana State Invitational on Tuesday as the Utes raced slalom on the final day of competition at Bridger Bowl.
Kaila Lafreniere and
Johs Braathen Herland once again led the Utes after posting the team's top finishes in Monday's giant slalom events.
In the team standings, Utah finished the meet with 713 total points—an advantage of 96 points over Colorado and 109 points up on Denver to round out the top three. The Utes' 333 alpine points were also a meet-best.
Women's Race
Utah had two women in the top seven, with Lafreniere placing a team-best fifth in a time of 1:46.91 between her two runs.
Kaja Norbye was seventh (1:47.23) and
Evelina Fredricsson wrapped up the women's scoring in 15
th (1:49.41).
Racing 13
th out of the starting gate, Lafreniere opened the morning with a run time of 52.20 seconds to sit sixth at the break.
Melanie Dahlberg,
Tatum Grosdidier and
Claire Timmermann also started for Utah but were unable to finish in the challenging conditions.
Men's Race
Helped by a top-four opening run, Herland finished the day in sixth place to lead the men's side for the second straight race. He was fourth at the break after opening with a run time of 50.53 seconds, before clocking a final total time of 1:44.20.
Wilhelm Normannseth (1:44.65) and
Simen Strand (1:45.28) were 15
th and 17
th respectively to secure points for the Utes.
Oliver Parazette rounded out the Utah finishers with a top-25 result.

The Utes have a quick turnaround before hosting the alpine portion of the Utah Invitational this weekend on the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center at the Utah Olympic Park. A giant slalom extra qualifier race will take place on Friday, prior to a second GS on Saturday and slalom on Sunday. All races are free admission for fans with each day's action beginning at 9 a.m.
The Utah Nordic team will be back in action on Saturday, February 8 to begin the Denver Invitational. In that meet, the Utes are currently second in the team standings; the alpine races took place on January 7-8.
