IRVING, Texas –
Kennedy Proctor became the first Utah softball student-athlete ever named Big 12 Player of the Week when the conference released its weekly awards on Tuesday.
Proctor earned this honor by belting three home runs and collecting nine RBIs while helping power Utah to a series victory over Houston. In a 14-3 win in game one of a doubleheader on Friday, she logged a double and a triple, drove in three runs and scored twice. In game two, she powered her way to the first two homer game of her career and knocked in four more runs as the Utes came back from down 9-2 to win 12-9. Proctor added one more long ball and another two RBIs on Sunday.
For the week, the rookie catcher from California drove in multiple runs in all three contests, finished with a .600 average, an 1.800 slugging percentage and scored five times.
Proctor is the first Ute named conference player of the week since
Aliya Belarde on April 8, 2024 and the first freshman to earn the honor since
Karlie Davison on May 8, 2023.
