SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah swim and dive program's
Jesco Helling was named Academic All-America second team by the College Sports Communicators, the CSC released Wednesday.
After earning third team honors while competing at Florida State in 2024, graduate diver
Jesco Helling is one of eleven swimmers and divers in the nation to earn a repeat selection.
Dominating both the pool and the classroom, Helling was a major addition to the Utah program. If holding a 4.0 in a Chemical Engineering master's program wasn't impressive enough, the Dresden, Germany native was the first Utah student-athlete to ever achieve an individual Big 12 title. After earning a place in the platform prelims, Helling knocked the competition out of the park with a final dive that earned 80 points from the judges, setting the graduate student's gold medal in stone.
Helling helped lead the Utah divers to a second-place finish at Big 12 Conference Championships and is just one of the three Utah divers to be considered for Academic All-America status.
